ABOUT rachel & david

Rachel

As kids, my sister and I would imitate the pictures in yoga books, and I still think of yoga as time to play and connect. My first yoga class was in the early 1990s, and like many people, I practiced various styles until Bhakti Vinyasa and Yin became my focus.

I started leading Vinyasa yoga classes in 2009 and Yin yoga classes in 2015. I’m certified to teach Vinyasa by my beloved Rusty Wells of Urban Flow in San Francisco (360 hours), and also by the incomparable yogaview team of Tom Quinn, Quinn Kearney, Claire Mark, and Geri Bleier in Chicago (200 hours). Dee Davis taught me about pre/postnatal yoga. Paulie Zink schooled me in Taoist yoga (Yin & Yang) and my Yin teachers include Josh Summers, Sarah Powers, and Bernie Clark. Rich Logan, David Keil, and Janet Stone have helped me support yoga students with compassionate energy, words, and hands-on adjustments.

My personal practice and teaching have benefited from training in bodywork, meditation, The Franklin Method, and The Alexander Technique. I’m certified as a Thai Bodywork Practitioner by Chuck Duff, learned advanced Thai and Taoist Chinese techniques of bodywork from the amazing Christopher Ray, and earned the designation of Registered Thai Therapist from the international organization Thai Healing Alliance. I’m also a Reiki Master, thanks to Linda Hutcheson, Tracey Ostrand, Diane Stein, and Jerry Mikutis. I’ve studied Craniosacral Therapy with Sara Johnston and David Rich Sol, and Tibetan Singing Bowl Therapy with Diane Mandle.

It is my duty and an honor to be of service. Jai Ma!

David

I was drawn to meditation and yoga as an antidote to my hectic days at the Chicago Board of Trade. I found that meditation and yoga calmed my mind and softened my heart.

I am dedicated to the practice, study, and teaching of yoga, and have completed multiple trainings and advanced trainings with Rusty Wells, Janet Stone, Jason Crandell, and the yogaview staff.

I bring over two decades of Buddhist studies and meditation practice to my yoga teaching style.

My teaching has evolved into a style of vinyasa flow that is playful, disciplined and empowering.

I am ever so grateful to my teachers and my students and continuously draw upon their insight and guidance.
